Harding Street Medical Centre offers a dedicated IUD clinic, providing comprehensive care for individuals seeking this highly effective contraceptive and period management option
An Intrauterine Device (IUD) is a small, T-shaped device inserted into a person’s uterus by their doctor. It’s a long-acting reversible contraceptive (LARC) that can remain in place for 5 years or longer, depending on the type and reason for use. Both copper and hormonal IUDs can be inserted in this clinic
IUDs are an excellent choice for:
Highly effective contraception (over 99% effective).
Reducing heavy menstrual bleeding.
Helping to control painful periods.
Managing symptoms associated with endometriosis.
Supporting management plans for PCOS.
As a component of Menopausal Hormone Therapy (MHT or Hormone Replacement Therapy).
A Patient-Centred Approach to IUD Insertion
At Harding Street Medical Centre, we prioritise your comfort. We are pleased to offer various pain relief options during IUD insertion, including local anaesthetic and a Penthrox inhaler.
