Harding Street Medical Centre offers an IUD clinic. An Intrauterine Device, also known as an IUD, is a small, narrow device placed into a woman’s uterus (womb) by her doctor. This is usually done using local anaesthetic and it can be left in place for at least 5 years. There are different types of IUDs and they have many uses. At Harding Street Medical Centre, we are currently inserting hormonal IUDs only. They can be used as highly effective Contraception, to reduce Heavy Menstrual Bleeding, to help control period pain, as a treatment for Endometriosis or as part of Menopausal Hormone Therapy (Hormone Replacement Therapy). Please book a double appointment for a Pre-IUD Assessment with Dr Angie Read if you are interested in this option.
